Road Clean-Up 2012

When we're out walking in the neighborhood, Bill picks up nails, screws, hooks, etc.--whatever he finds lying in the dirt roads. He has extra-good eyesight and can see this stuff where the rest of us just see dirt.

Recently he photographed his "Road Kill" collection from 2012 before disposing of it. Those extra-big nails are as deadly as they seem--we've had two tires ruined by them, and as a result, we no longer drive on the road where those nails were found!

Wildflowers in the Mojave Preserve

A couple of weeks ago, we took a quick drive up to the Mojave Preserve
and were rewarded with abundant wildflowers along the Kelbaker and Cima roads--
plus yucca and Joshua tree blooms as well. Enjoy!

Awards were presented to 12 desert artists during a reception Sunday for the annual Members Show at the Twentynine Palms Art Gallery. The judged exhibition, featuring nearly 50 works, will be on display at the Gallery through April 28. In the Under Glass category, which includes watercolors, pastels, drawings, fine art prints and mixed media, "You Don't Say!" by Janis Commentz received first place.
