This is really Bill's blog post today. I had some things to take care of at home, so he went with our friends Phyllis and Richard to Big Bear for the day and had a great time! Elevation: 8500 feet. Scenic beauty, fresh mountain air, and temperatures around 70 degrees.
They stopped at the Discovery Center, where Bill posed with the local Big Bear.
Then they went on a hike and passed this meadow of corn lilies.
Bill spotted these electric pink darlings off the side of the road. Fortunately Phyllis had her plant book along. They are called snow plants. And yes indeed, there was still some snow on the ground here and there!
